Getting a New Backup File

NOTE: The process of getting a new backup will run to completion even if you leave the Database reporting tab or close Mitel System Administration & Diagnostics. When you return or when the backup is completed, if the backup was successful, the report content is refreshed.

The following message appears, “a programming session for <connection name> is already active. You must close the session before you can get a new backup.”

Do one of the following:

Click OK to go to that session window, and then:
- terminate the session. You must click Get new backup again to start the backup process.
- use it to save the database. When the save is completed, you must use the Database Reporting window to view reporting from the saved database (see Generating Reports from Other Sources).
Click Cancel to cancel the operation for now.

The DB Programming session will be started, but after attempting to begin the backup, it will fail with the following status, “The socket connection was successful, but the interface initiation timed out. The most likely reason is that a previous session was aborted. If you are certain no other session is active, resetting the host system may solve this problem. If this problem persist, contact Technical Support.”

You will not be able to get a new backup until the system becomes available. If you want to determine what operation or user is causing the system to be busy, you may choose to view the System Information content control to see the IP address of the DB Programming connection, or you may make use of the Message Print content control to look for messages reporting how the system is being used.

Click next to the Get new backup button, and then select Configure backups. The Edit System Connection window appears, focused on the Backups tab.
Change the backup location, backup content, backup scheduling, or any other backup configuration fields.
Click Save connection to close the window. The report content is not affected by this operation until the next scheduled or test backup completes.

Click next to the Get new backup button, and then select Other database reporting. The Database reporting window appears, which allows you to generate reporting from other sources.
